2 Islands was founded by best friends, Don Liebell (pianist, arranger, and composer) and Yuri Salina (lead singer/entertainer). Yuri and Don bonded over their shared passions for music to form their band. Just a few years ago, it started simply as a duo with Don at the piano and Yuri on vocals. It rapidly expanded to become a highly demanded, one-of-a-kind family-based band.
Don and Yuri are proud to feature the exquisite vocal talents of Yuri's wife, Janine Salina and their daughter, Tristen Salina. Their younger daughter, Thais Salina is 2 Islands' teenage bass guitar sensation.
Daron Roberts, also from Trinidad is an exquisite talent on percussion.
David Speckhart, from Virginia Beach is 2 Islands' outrageously skilled lead guitarist.
Elijah Wheeler provides spectacularly uplifting and authentic Caribbean vibes on the steel pan, the native instrument of Trinidad.
Josh Sierra Delgado adds exquisite cello and Spanish vocals and salsa magic to our mix.
Manager, Sheila Liebell ("Sheila Shine"), Don's wife, complete the 2 Islands package. Each member brings unique talents to this music entertainment group.

2 Islands is not your ordinary cover band that plays one particular style, era, or genre of music. Don and Yuri have developed one of the most musically versatile live music performance groups you will find, with each member bringing their own flavor to the mix.
And by the way, don’t be fooled by the band's name: 2 Islands plays a dazzling array of music—not merely beach tunes. Don Liebell’s New York, Long Island, rock/jazz/classical influenced approach and the Salina Family’s Trinidad Caribbean vibe make a magnificent musical family blend for your delight.
Sure, they perform authentically-delivered Caribbean music, too, including, reggae and SOCA (Soul of Calypso) dance music. And yes, Don will never hesitate to play Billy Joel or Elton John tunes! However, 2 Islands will blow you away with an absurdly vast variety of classic rock, country, jazz, hip hop, big band, and virtually any other genre, decade, or style of music (see song list examples below).
With soulful vocals, piano artistry, extraordinary percussion rhythms, funky basslines, steel pan Caribbean goodness, and soaring guitar solos, 2 Islands creates music that soothes souls, gets feet moving, and hearts pumping. Yuri. is the lead singer and master of entertainment. His versatility will blow you away. He can sing virtually any style of music and shift gears at the drop of a dime!
How can this Caribbean-born man go from reggae to classic rock... to R&B and soul... to 80s pop... to 40s big band in a heartbeat?
One moment, he's like Bob Marley... then he's singing Freddie Mercury, Steve Perry, Frank Sinatra,
or James Brown!
By day, Yuri Salina is an interior designer. 2 Islands musicians are like superheroes who transform to their alter egos at night to become musical entertainers!

Don is the music director and piano keyboardist. He is a principally
self-taught musician, arranger, and composer. Between 1996-2000,
Don served as piano accompanist for Governor’s School for the Arts advanced ballet classes.
In 1997, he co-composed the orchestral score for Virginia
Ballet Theater’s “Dracula.”
However, Don is known to most as
Dr. Donald Liebell. He is a nationally-known specialist in natural and holistic health care (chiropractor/acupuncturist) and a medical research/innovator, published author of health articles and books with a focus on tick-borne illness

Janine Salina's beautiful voice, harmonizing ability, and range provides lead and backup vocals that make 2 Islands music zing! Like Yuri and her daughter, Tristen, Janine's singing versatility is remarkable.
By day, Janine is Vice President of Human Resources for Busch Vacuum Solutions, which is one of the world’s largest producers of vacuum pumps, vacuum systems, blowers and compressors.
